Teachers can receive 3 or 6 hours of Arkansas history professional development credit for these workshops.

Attendees will learn about Arkansas history, discover free teaching resources and leave with hands-on materials from the Arkansas Arts Council, the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission, the Arkansas State Archives, the Delta Cultural Center, the Historic Arkansas Museum, the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, and the Old State House Museum. Topics covered will include Arkansas history, geography, natural resources, symbols, and more.

The Economics of Sports

June 28-29, 2018

 

According to a recent Sports Illustrated article, 60% of former NBA players are financially broke within five years of retirement. In addition, 78% of former NFL players have gone bankrupt or are under financial stress within 2 years of retiring. This workshop will focus on the relationship between economics and the world of sports, plus it will provide participants with engaging lessons for teaching economic concepts through the lens of sports.
